Mabuhay Filipino Thinkers!
Three days ago, we received a lot of good feedbacks and reviews from our blog titled : POLITICAL OP-ED : Top 3 Reasons Why I Will Not Vote Grace Poe For Pres nor VP | Think Philppines! — the whole Think Philippines community of writers, contributors and anonymous bloggers would like to thank everyone for appreciating our fearless articles. We would like to reiterate that we are not paid by any politicians in these articles.
We believe that like other blog sites i.e. Get Real Philippines should be free from financial donations from political personalities to maintain the credibility and independence from any political baggages. We will write and express anything on which we believe can bring an alternative insight to the majority of the Filipino people who are trapped by the paid and often times biased mainstream media.
Moving forward, we wish that you will follow our series of Political Opinion-Editorials. We will not be cowed by the popular candidates. We will give you an alternative insights that we once enjoyed in our mainstream newspapers.
So, here we go! Top 5 reasons why I am for Dick Gordon this 2016!
Number 1, Dick Gordon was hands-on from the Day One of Yolanda Catastrophe (Insert: This guy is not sleeping on the job). Not only that, he also gained the respect of the whole Red Cross and Red Crescent all around the world during the said disaster (Insert : Filipino Pride). A typical strategic meeting in the Philippine Red Cross at that time is like a United Nations sanctioned meeting where you can see all race, all colors of the world are united for one mission : To alleviate the human sufferings brought by Yolanda. The guy helped without media frenzy except for International News Organizations like CNN and BCC on which in many events invited him for an interview because these International News Organizations saw how Mr. Gordon was updated and fed with real time information from the ground (Insert : Efficiency).

Number 2, He is a funny guy and a good source of positive energy. He is a natural team player and source of energy by the whole team yet he is always downplaying his direct role in making things happened and always giving the good credit back to his fellow volunteers in Red Cross, Subic, Senate, Department of Tourism.

Number 3 on my list is something personal, he was a great influence to me on why I created my first volunteer movement that has now members all over the country. The volunteer movement I established is called Isang Samahan, Isang PIlipinas (ISIP) which aims to help in solving various third world country problems by organizing socio-civic programs with the purpose of helping the children regain confidence in the power of education. Nurturing the grass roots all the way to the top is one effective way of bringing upheaval to this nation’s poverty-stricken landscape.

To add, people always see that the initiative of giving back to the society is always something that needs a lot of cash, human resources and heavy logistical concern.

However, with my exposure as a simple volunteer to Mr. Dick Gordon,I personally witnessed that the followers, believers and other resources will automatically follow as long as you provided them with the right vision and you take the lead in walking the talk.

Number 4 on my list is very timely, he is an advocate of meritocracy. Some people are afraid of this word, they always associate meritocracy with “educational attainment” while in a way it is partially true, the way Mr. Dick Gordon see meritocracy is more on putting the right guy for the job rather than the popular guy for the job. It means appointing someone who has a proven track record and ability to do the job rather than someone who is just popular and will be the primary cause of inefficiency in the area ( Insert : TRACK RECORD).
He always advocates the advancement in a system that is based on performance measured through examination and/or demonstrated achievement in the field where it is implemented (Insert : Eradication of Padrino System and KKK).
Number 5 on my list, he transformed the Philippine Red Cross from a popular “Blood Bank” to a power house. Philippine Red Cross is currently dubbed as the largest humanitarian organization in Asia and the most efficient humanitarian organization in the Philippines.

OK, Of course there are a lot more of reasons why I like the guy. Who doesn’t know that he once led and transformed Subic into an Investor friendly zone, Department of Tourism’s WOW Philippines campaign and many more. However, I would just like to limit it to the Top 5 and it is up for you guys to write and share your own piece on why you will vote Mr. Dick Gordon this coming 2016.
