Lavado immediately sought the assistance of Airport Police Pablito Seño before surrendering the pouch to the Intelligence and Investigation Division for proper identification of its rightful owner.

It was later confirmed that a certain Chinese national, Xiren Wu, was the owner of the items after an identification card was found inside the pouch.

Wu was able to retrieve his belongings soon after being paged at the airport.

He expressed gratitude to Lavado and Seño for their act of honesty.

MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado commended both airport employees for their honesty and assured that they will be recognized in a commendation ceremony next month along with other outstanding airport personnel.

The commendation ceremony for outstanding MIAA personnel is regularly done as part of the authority’s way of thanking their employees for reporting lost valuable items found within the premises of NAIA.

During the event, MIAA personnel are given certificates as well as a complimentary breakfast buffet of the General Manager’s office.

“Honesty at work is surely being the norm at the airport,” Honrado said in a statement.

”MIAA has diligent employees such as Lavado and Seño to thank for continuously upholding such a commendable standard of service,” he added. (PNA)
