Hello Filipino Thinkers!

MABUHAY!

This is our humble opinion in relevance with the proposal of our honorable lady senator from Iloilo Province, Mrs. Miriam Defensor Santiago regarding her proposal not to allow “non tax payers”  to vote in the next elections.

“Change the Charter so that only taxpayers will be allowed to vote. Kasi kung hindi siya nagbabayad ng tax, mahirap na mahirap siya. Maski sino na lang, basta bigyan siya ng pera, kahit bigyan mo ng konti, that is patronage politics,” Santiago said.

“The taxpayers are being ruled by the choice of the nontaxpayers,” she added.

Do not allow non-tax payers to vote as a bill?

A) Technically 100% of the Pinoys are tax payers because 85% of taxes are indirectly paid through 12% EVAT and Real Estate Tax and etc.

Rally of tons of activist regarding the EVAT or the Expanded Value Added Tax amounting to 12% on Toll Roads.

B) Following the saga of Pork Barrel Scam most of the culprits are income tax payers and highly educated Filipinos. Does it mean that by complying to a single gov’t legal paper guarantee us to be more intellectual and pragmatic in choosing a candidate?

C) It is an open secret that most of the contractors involved in the Govt are paying the SOP 10% of the contract price subdivided among the people with authority to award every Govt contract we have to date from street lamps to garbage collections. Yes! Someone is earning on every single govt transaction. Contractors are tax payers!

D) Isn’t that most of the motor vehicle “kotong incidents” usually involves a private car owner? Meaning, a more financially capable Pinoy vs a less financially capable Pinoy both have their share in exploiting the fallacy of our society and promoting corruption.

So, next time you recommend something for a bill,Think again! Most of the people in ARMM do not file for income taxes. Those ill researched bills will turn PHL into a next Syria and Iraq.

Just fix the right problem, lower down the cost of elections to allow better candidates to join the process and abolish all discretionary funds to avoid mediocre Trapos from joining the race.
